FLOWERS - HORTICULTURE SPECIMENS and ARTISTIC DESIGN

LOCATION: The Masonic Hall on East Sandusky Street

Entries must be checked with classification committee and receive an entry card and exhibition number which is to be filled out completely by exhibitor before entries are placed. Entries will be accepted on Thursday, September 9 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.. Open judging will be at 1:00 p.m. Entries may be removed between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.
Exhibitors may make multiple entries in each class of Horticulture as long as they are different varieties. One entry per person per class in Artistic. Flowers in Artistic classes need not be grown by exhibitor.
Exhibitors must furnish their own bottles. Bottle must be suitable for the size of the exhibit.
Classes will be sub-divided, if warranted.
QUALIFYING EXHIBITOR OR PARTICIPANT MUST BE A FREDERICKTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT RESIDENT WHO PHYSICALLY LIVES WITHIN THE DISTRICT, OR A MEMBER OF THE FREDERICKTOWN GARDEN CLUBS.
Reasonable care will be taken of exhibits, but the committee will not be responsible for damage or loss.



FLOWERS - HORTICULTURE SPECIMENS

All entries in the Horticulture division must have been grown by the exhibitor and, if possible, be labeled as to its kind and variety. QUALIFYING EXHIBITOR OR PARTICIPANT MUST BE A FREDERICKTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT RESIDENT WHO PHYSICALLY LIVES WITHIN THE DISTRICT, OR A MEMBER OF A FREDERICKTOWN GARDEN CLUBS. No professional or commercial growers. No spray, polish or wax on the leaves.

Containers must be clear glass for Horticulture division. You must supply your own container. Only one entry for each variety, in each class may be made by an exhibitor. Any entry not conforming to the schedule will be disqualified and placed on exhibition only. The committee does reserve the right to combine, divide or eliminate classes to insure a uniform show.

Each class will be awarded:
1st Place - $1.00, 2nd Place - $ .75, 3rd Place - $ .50
4th and 5th Places - Honorable Mention

"Best of Show" for specimen receives a Rosette Ribbon and $7.50

FLOWERS - ARTISTIC DESIGN

Flowers in Artistic classes need not be grown by exhibitor but must be arranged by the exhibitor. Classes open to the amateur designer only. No artificial material. Painted material permitted but no painted fresh material. Dried material may be incorporated with fresh plant material. List plant material used in artistic classes on a 3 x 5 card, if possible.

FINE HANDCRAFTERS

LOCATION: Senior Citizens' Building on East Sandusky Street

Entries can be made on Wednesday from 1:00-7:00 pm at the Senior Citizens Building. Handcrafted items must fit into one of the appropriate categories, have been made by the exhibitor and not have been entered in a previous Tomato Show. Qualifying exhibitor must be a Fredericktown School District resident who PHYSICALLY LIVES within the district. Items must be clean; glued or soiled items will not be accepted. One entry per category per person. People’s Choice Awards will be given for each of the 12 divisions. People’s Choice voting will take place on Wednesday 7-9, Thursday 5-9 and Friday 5-9. Awards will be in place when the building opens on Saturday. Claim tickets required for pickup of items, which will take place on Saturday between 4:00 and 5:00 pm (absolutely no early pick-ups). The building will be open to the public: Wednesday 1-9, Thursday 5-9, Friday 5-9, and Saturday 11-5.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Entries will be judged on originality and composition depicting the theme of the category. QUALIFYING EXHIBITOR OR PARTICIPANT MUST BE A FREDERICKTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT RESIDENT WHO PHYSICALLY LIVES WITHIN THE DISTRICT OR CURRENTLY ATTENDS FREDERICKTOWN SCHOOLS. All entries must have been photographed by the entrant. Amateurs only, no professional or semi-professional photographers. No frames or mattings will be accepted. Entries are to be 5" x 7" mounted on 8" x 10" hard cardboard surface, thick paper, or mounting (card) stock. No mattings wil be accepted. There is a limit of 5 photos per category per entrant.

Official entries must be submitted to the director in charge prior to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2010. Entries will be accepted at Fredericktown Community Library on Saturday, September 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. No entries will be accepted after that time.

This year we will have two "People's Choice" awards: one for an ADULT photo and one for a JUVENILLE photo. Voting will take place Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the Tomato Show.

This year film and digital will be judged together, not separated, with 3 classes:
Adult: ages 19 and above
Juvenile I: ages 13 thru 18
Juvenile II: ages 12 and under
The categories of each Division will be:
ADULT: Animals, Nature, People, Landscape, Structures, Theme, in color, black and white.
JUVENILE I: Animals, Nature, People, Landscapes, Structures, Theme, in color or black and white.
JUVENILE II: Animals, Nature, People, Landscapes, Structures, Theme, in color or black and white.

1st Place: $5.00. . . . 2nd Place: $3.00. . . . 3rd Place: $2.00
The judges will reserve the right to categorize all entries in case of a question as to which category an entry should be placed in.

Entries may be picked up after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10 or at the Fredericktown Community Library beginning Monday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. until Saturday September 17, 5:00 p.m. Entries not picked up by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday September 17 will be discarded.
